Hi, I'm Alison Underwood. I'm a UC Santa Barbara graduate, soon-to-be Cal State Long Beach graduate student, and future school psychologist. As a sophomore at UCSB, I discovered that I had an interest in child development, and I worked as a research assistant in a developmental psychology laboratory. But I soon realized that research alone wasn't satisfying. That summer, I signed up to be a camp counselor at Peer Buddies Inclusion Camp. From that time on, I knew that I wanted to work with children and teenagers who have special needs and help them grow to their full potential through scientifically validated interventions. Currently, I am a student clinician at the Koegel Autism Center, a private facilitator for Peer Buddies, and I write for the Santa Barbara Education Foundation. Some of my work for the Santa Barbara Education Foundation has been published in NoozHawk.
Intervention, research, and writing take up most of my time, but when I get a break, I love to read, cook, bake, garden, and spend time with friends and family.
